About Alex Lyons, LMT

A graduate of Myotherapy College of Utah, Alex has done manual therapy for high school, collegiate (Divisions I, II, and III), and professional athletes.  He has worked on clients from a broad spectrum of sports, including soccer players, cyclists, cross country and track athletes, road racers, ultramarathoners, skiers, golfers, and rock climbers. Alex also works with people looking to reduce pain in their day-to-day activities.

He utilizes soft tissue modalities, including myofascial release and trigger point therapy, along with various mobilization techniques to address joint position and capsular health.  He also holds advanced certifications in the treatment of herniated discs, TMJ disorder, and scar tissue.  Together these techniques form a comprehensive approach that addresses all essential structures of the body.

Alongside his work in manual therapy, Alex has been a cross country and track coach for eleven years. A USATF Levels I and II certified coach (endurance events), Alex has presented across the country at various coaching clinics, including the 2021 and 2024 Boulder Running Clinics.

His mentors include Dan Pfaff, creator of the performance therapy methodology and coach of multiple Olympic medalists; and Wynn Gmitroski, Canadian physiotherapist and coach of Canadian record-holder Gary Reed.  Both Wynn and Dan taught Alex to view the body holistically, as an integrated and interconnected unit--to always think, as Coach Pfaff says, "What else--where else?"
